The Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center is pleased to officially announce our new Respect the Snake fund available now to accept donations specifically for our work in local snake conservation. Respect the Snake (www.respectthesnake.com) was founded back in 2006 by our former Chair and Lake Erie watersnake conservation coordinator, Dr. Kristin Stanford as an important outreach mechanism for sharing research findings and educational materials on the Lake Erie watersnake (LEWS). Over the years, Respect the Snake continued to provide updated information on conserving our LEWS and expanded to provide information on other local snake species. This new fund established by the LEINWC, will allow us to continue to support our wildly popular live snake programs and expand our involvement in the ongoing long-term research program for the LEWS and other native snakes. The LEINWC wishes to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to the Robbie Rutstein Living Trust which provided the founding donation to establish this fund. We are so grateful and excited to provide a new home for the world-famous Lake Erie Watersnake Conservation Program and now a supporting fund to keep it going! Let's get to work!
